Dubai Museum:

The amazing Dubai museum is situated in the Al-Fahidi Fort. The famed As-Fahidi Fort was built in 1787 in order to defend the Dubai creek. The fort also served as a palace, a garrison, a prison, etc. After its restoration in 1971, and in 1995, it was converted into a museum. With attractions like traditional boats, weaponry, pearl fishing, and artifacts which are easily 3000-4000 years old which were dug up from the Al Qusais archaeological site. The place has a small entrance fee of AED 3 for adults, and AED 1 for children, which in turn will help fund for the museum’s maintenance. The museum is open from 8:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.

Old Dubai (Bastakia):

Bastakia, also known as the Al Fahidi neighborhood was built in the 19th century by the then rich Persian merchants who dealt with pearls and textiles. They made houses and building in Dubai because they were attracted to tax-free trading and access to Dubai creek. Now, the place is a gorgeous and antique city, with beautiful Persian architecture. The district  has Majlis Gallery, which has an impressive collection of traditional Arab ceramics and furniture, and AlSerkal Cultural Foundation with rotating art exhibitions, shops, cafes, etc. The places feels like a timeless place amongst the modern jungle.
